This month we are saying goodbye to our beloved staff member Dani. We were fortunate enough to be able to all get together and have an amazing farewell dinner for her. We are sad to see Dani leave but excited for what her future holds as she takes this next journey!

Team Building at Autumn Lake Winery Labor Day Weekend was absolutely beautiful. But, what made it even better? Our team building event at Autumn Lake Winery making "Words of Intention" bracelets, having our tarot cards read, sipping some wine, and enjoying each other's company on the perfect sunshiney day. We also loved having Dr. Briggs there for her first team building event! |

Dr. Erica Briggs is HERE and we are SO excited to have her join the East Oak Team. Dr. Erica Briggs is a South Jersey native who began her journey in veterinary medicine at just 19 years old, working as a veterinary technician and quickly falling in love with the field. She earned her undergraduate degree in Geographic Information Science from Rowan University in 2019, followed by a master’s degree in Wildlife Conservation and Management from Unity University in 2020. In 2025, she earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Florida—go Gators!
Dr. Briggs is a certified veterinary acupuncturist with a strong interest in rehabilitation and a passion for exotic animal medicine. She lives in Washington Township with her boyfriend and their beloved rescue crew: Dori, a pitbull/cattle dog mix; Bean, a dwarf lionhead rabbit; and Deborah, a bearded dragon. Outside of veterinary medicine, Dr. Briggs is an avid coffee enthusiast and loves spending her downtime reading, hiking, and running. A lifelong Disney fan, she had the unique opportunity to work at Disney’s Animal Kingdom in both 2018 and 2020. Dr. Briggs is excited to start her career and provide compassionate, individualized care to all her patients—furry, scaly, or feathered.

Our Interns Have Arrived for the Summer
You may see some new faces over the summer...Brook and Andrea. We have partnered with the New Jersey Career Accelerator Program again this summer and we are happy to have TWO college students with us for the next 10 weeks. They are both interested in veterinary medicine and have aspirations of becoming a vital part of the veterinary community. They will be mentoring not only our veterinarians but our veterinary professional staff as well. Thanks to our teaching and mentoring team, they will learn OVER 250 tasks upon completion.
Congratulations Dani
Dani, one of our exam room assistants, graduated from Rowan with her Associates degree in Equine Studies, on the pre-veterinary medicine track. We are SO proud of her amazing accomplishment, including winning several awards upon completion and look forward to seeing where her journey takes her as she begins looking for college programs to complete her Bachelors degree and go on to vet school. Way to go Dani!
Dental Radiology Has Arrived at East Oak
Sierra, Alyssa, Sam, and Melissa were given an interactive dental training event on dental radiographs this past month. As you can see, they really enjoyed their time "getting to know" this new technology that will become a vital part of how East Oak does dentistry moving forward. Very exciting to know this new diagnostic tool will be a valuable asset to patient care and dental assessment.
Easter Fun at East Oak
Last week was full of Easter fun at East Oak. The staff was treated to Easter baskets full of candies to choose from. They also hopped to a East Egg Hunt throughout the hospital. And, if they found the GOLDEN eggs, they received a special gift of fun items including socks, notebooks, goofy pens, and much more. ONE golden egg included a $25 gift card to their favorite retailer, which was found by Meagan!

Spring Team Building at Top Golf
Last week, our doctors and staff came together for our spring team building event. This quarter we attended Top Golf in Mt. Laurel. The doctors treated the staff to a wide selection of appetizers, a full quesadilla and nacho bar, and team trivia challenges throughout the day. It was a wonderful opportunity for our doctors and our professional staff members to step away from the practice to reset, relax, and refocus. Fun was had by ALL and we truly appreciate the AMAZING team we have, the positive culture we uphold, and the WONDERFUL doctors we work for each day!
March Birthday Celebrations

The month of March was full of birthday celebrations for Dr. Mary and our professional staff. Each staff member was treated to either a sweet treat such as brownies, a charcuterie tray, or a fruit bundle for themselves as well as staff. They also each received a gift card to their favorite retail outlet. Dr. Mary was treated to a custom "summer beach fun" basket.

We have an amazing staff at East Oak. We appreciate ALL the hardwork they put into their jobs each and every day. They are truly passionate about the veterinary profession, the clients, and all the pet patients that walk through the doors.

The East Oak Learning Library
Check out our East Oak Animal Hospital Learning Library on the website. Our educational coordinator, Caitlin, is working hard to create custom handouts for our clients. From parasite infections, to thyroid issues, chocolate ingestion, to cardiac conditions...Caitlin has something for YOU! We also have our referring specialty and emergency/after hours handouts in the learning library as well. They will give you information on locations, phone numbers, and email addresses. We have added over 50 new items including handouts and links to essential veterinary information for you! New items are being added daily so make sure to check back!

The staff had an amazing time celebrating the holidays at Autumn Lake Winery. The doctors spoiled the staff and the staff spoiled them right back! It was a wonderful night of fun games, amazing prizes and gifts, fabulous food and delicious wine! It was truly a night to remember. Thank you Dr. Jay and Dr. Mary for all that you do. Also, big shout out to the amazing staff at Autumn Lake Winery and Rashaun, the caterer. You made our night so memorable!

Breast Cancer Awareness
On October 23rd, our staff wore PINK to support friends and family battling breast cancer and bring awareness of this disease. We also included some information on detection and prevention on our Facebook page.
East Oak at Family Fun Night in Vineland
Melissa and Alyssa had an opportunity to join the community at Vineland High School for Family Fun Night and Trunk-or-Treat. WOW...so many showed up for this event. Our table offered SO many treats for the kids including candy, kitty kat headbands, keychains, and bracelets! Thanks so much to our clients who stopped by to say "HI" and we were delighted to share information about our hospital to those who are interested in the practice and becoming future clients! Check back in November for upcoming community events we will be attending.

Fundraiser for Joe Doherty
Joe Doherty was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia in 2022 and underwent successful treatment. Unfortunately, Joe has undergone some relapses. On September 27, 2024, a beef and beer fundraiser was held at Masso's Crystal Manor to help raise money for upcoming expenses for Joe's medical treatments. East Oak Animal Hospital jumped in to help our dear friends, the Doherty's. We made several baskets AND Dr. 's Jay and Mary donated Eagles tickets as the BIG giveaway. East Oak clients chipped in too! Thank you to those clients who gave a monterary donation or made a basket for the event. It was a fun night for all and a few of our East Oak Staff were VERY lucky and took home some of the loot! But, the best part of the night was JOE winning the EOAH Eagles Basket and Tickets...a dream come true for him! The fight doesn't end here...if you are interested in donating to Joe's medical treatments, just reach out to Melissa and we can make that happen.
Pet Costume Contest for Halloween
Be on the lookout for our upcoming East Oak Animal Hospital Annual Pet Costume Contest. The contest will begin the week of Halloween. All you need to do is watch for our Facebook post and enter your pet's picture with their halloween costume. The doctors and staff will vote and announce the winner on Halloween. Each participant has a chance to win a customized pet basket with treats, toys, and products for your pet!

Botanical Beautification at East Oak As many of you may have noticed, East Oak Animal Hospital is getting an eye-catching renovation to all our gardens surrounding the building. The project has been getting ALOT of buzz with clients! We are also getting our parking lot repaved this week...watch for updates on Facebook for parking and entrance instructions. |
New for October...Sunny Says is now collecting Christmas pictures for his naughty and nice board "holiday" style! If you would like to submit a photo, just make sure to put both your name and your pet's name on the back of the photo along with the reason WHY they are naughty or nice. For these submissions, we would love naughty and nice pictures by the Christmas tree, etc... You can also submit a picture and caption through our Facebook Messenger. We do not answer ANY other types of messages on Facebook except for this submission. If you have any questions, just reach out and ask for Vanessa or Melissa. We can't wait to see ALL our amazing feline and canine friends featured on Sunny Says Naughty and Nice!
