Dr. Jay Van Kooy is a South Jersey native who has been involved in veterinary medicine for over 15 years. He started working as a kennel assistant during his high school years and as a veterinary technician through his college years. In 2011, he entered veterinary school at the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Jay has been practicing in the South Jersey area as a small animal veterinarian since 2015, with a special interest in reptile medicine. He volunteers with Pou Sante: Amar Haiti, a nonprofit started by the University of Pennsylvania veterinary students and has traveled to Haiti three times on veterinary relief missions. Dr. Jay resides in Franklinville with his wife, Sam, son Finley, and their two dogs, one cat, multiple goats, chickens, and rescued reptiles. Dr. Jay is an active runner and CrossFit enthusiast. His other interests included drone aviation and woodworking.

Dr. Mary Van Kooy has practiced veterinary medicine for over 25 years. She received her undergraduate degree in Animal Science at Rutgers University in New Brunswick, New Jersey and graduated Cum Laude with her doctorate in veterinary medicine from the University of Pennsylvania in 1991. Dr. Van Kooy’s veterinary interests include internal medicine, dermatology and pathology. In 2019, Dr. Mary Van Kooy and her son, Dr. Jay Van Kooy purchased East Oak Animal Hospital together to fulfill Dr. Mary's dream of practicing veterinary medicine with her son. Dr. Mary Van Kooy resides in South Jersey with her husband, one cat and one dog. She enjoys spending time at the beach and is an enthusiastic bird watcher.
